Mutilate File Wiper is a secure erasing tool for Windows. It allows you to delete your files in a way that they won't be recoverable. There are applications out there that can recover files that you have deleted or lost. Using an application like Mutilate File Wiper, you can prevent that from happening. But once you use it, you won't be able to recover your files, and an array of other things can happen to your system. For example, Mutilate File Wiper warned me that my restore points could be rendered useless after using the application.
There are two different modes in this app. The first one is the basic one, where you select a file or folder and erase it securely, so that no one can recover it. The second mode allows you to wipe the free space on your hard drives. This is done when you have already deleted a file and don't want anyone to be prying on your hard drive to find it. Both modes take some time. In my testing, I used the second mode to see if I still could recover a few files that I had deleted recently. The whole process took a little over 5 minutes. The results can't be argued with, though. Mutilate File Wiper worked like a charm.
